Accessibility Statement

Accessibility is treated as part of building the site, not as a pass at the end. Where a design choice and an accessible outcome have conflicted, the accessible outcome has won.

We target the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA.

We describe this site as PARTIALLY CONFORMANT with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Partially conformant means most of the site meets the standard, but we have not commissioned an independent audit and cannot claim full conformance. Section 5 sets out exactly what that gap consists of.

These are specific things this site does, not general intentions:

• Semantic HTML — real headings in order, real lists, real definition lists, and landmark regions on every page.
• A skip-to-content link as the first focusable element on every page.
• A visible gold focus ring on every interactive element, never removed.
• Full keyboard operability, including the mobile menu and the video dialog, both of which close on Escape and return focus to the control that opened them.
• Text and interface colours checked against the WCAG AA contrast minimum.
• Honouring the operating system "reduce motion" setting — scroll reveals, counters, hover lifts, and the closings ticker all stand still when it is on.
• A visible Pause control on the moving closings ticker, so motion is never unavoidable.
• Form fields with real labels, hints tied by aria-describedby, errors announced on submit, and an error summary that links to each field that needs attention.
• Live regions that announce results — the coverage calculator and the intake form both report changes to a screen reader.
• No content that depends on colour alone to be understood.

Automated accessibility tests (axe-core, WCAG 2.1 A/AA tags) run on Chromium, Firefox, and WebKit at 390px and 1440px against all public routes. Those runs report no critical or serious violations.

Automated testing is a floor, not a ceiling. It reliably catches contrast, structure, labelling, and attribute problems. It cannot judge whether the reading order makes sense, whether link text is meaningful out of context, or whether a screen reader user can actually complete a task.

We would rather list these than imply they do not exist:

• No independent third-party accessibility audit has been carried out.
• No manual testing with screen readers (JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver) has been completed yet.
• The explainer videos are not yet published. When they are, captions and transcripts need to ship with them — they will not be published without.
• Some decorative elements rely on colour and gradient for atmosphere; they carry no information, but they have not been reviewed for users with specific visual sensitivities.
• Third-party content embedded in future (video players, maps) may not meet the same standard, and we do not control it.

If any part of this site prevents you from doing what you came to do, we want to know — a specific report is worth more than a general audit. Please tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and the browser or assistive technology you were using.

We treat access barriers as defects, not feature requests, and we will tell you what we intend to do about it and when.

Nothing on this site is the only route to us. If a page or the intake form is not usable for you, contact us however is easiest and we will take the information directly and progress your enquiry the same way we would any other.
